MUKKABAAZ is an Indian sports drama film co-written, co-produced and Directed by Anurag Kashyap who last directed Bombay Velvet.  In MUKKABAAZ, Anurag tells a story of Shravan (Vineet Kumar Singh) who trains at a gym controlled by local Don Bhagwan Das Mishra (Jimmy Shergil) and falls for Mishra’s niece Sunaina (Zoya Hussain). But the Don does not approve of this match. Film further follows the story of this guy Shrawan who strives to win sunaina’s hand in marriage and become a successful boxer while trying to avoid retaliation from the Don.

If you are going with regular expectations that you keep from an Anurag Kashyap film, then I promise you will get much more than you expect. Because this MUKKABAAZ is so prompt , so endearing and so engaging that it fulfills your appetite for sensible commercial entertainers. With Mukkabaaz, Anurag has delivered more than expectations. Of course, the star cast has given him full support. Not only star cast but all other departments have given a good support in film’s success to impress audience.

Jimmy Shergil and Ravi Kishan are very impressive and play to their fullest potential. Zoya Hussain , who doesn’t have dialogues  in particular but the way she acted , the way she moves her eyeballs and changes facial expressions , is amazing. She wins you over. And of course the Lead Man , Vineet Kumar Singh . He is simply OUTSTANDING ! Nothing less than that. Watching him doing all hard work on screen, sometimes gives you a feeling of tiredness ( by doing physical hard work) as if you were doing all that. This is the effect of his acting. He has totally nailed it.

Songs too are meaningful and looks important whenever they are played in movie. In fact they  help moving story ahead.  Like I said before , Anurag Kashyap , as a Director is in full form here. He has maintained a good control over all department. This is one , a well made though commercial yet sensible and Impressive entertainer. Having said that , yes there are a few dull moments in second half  but like I said , a few. But Anurag gives you so much to enjoy that you don’t even mind those dull scenes. This one is not only for Classes but also for masses. Yes masses too will enjoy this fare (which initially I doubted after watching the trailer) and the main reasons are- Performances and Clap worthy dialogues.

In MUKKABAAZ  Anurag has tried to comment on many issues like Caste , Politics in Sports, Situation of Women in cities like Bareily (UP) and facade of Nationalism. So this weekend, treat yourself with this powerful and sensible commercial entertainer. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
