Finally a sigh of relief for Ranbir-Katrina Fans. After three years of hard work, various speculations, and emotional journey, Ranbir Kapoor’s maiden production venture Jagga Jasoos has finally hit the screens. Anurag Basu’s last outing Barfi was well received by Public as well as Critics and also won Ranbir Filmfare Award for Best Actor. And so the expectations from Anurag and Ranbir are tend to be sky high with Jagga Jasoos.
Considering this, apart from aforementioned , One more interesting part of this film is it brought Ranbir and Katrina in one frame after a hiatus of 7 years. Last time both were seen in Prakash Zaa’s Raajneeti. So lets have a brief look over story.

Jagga Jasoos is a story of a young detective who is in search for his missing father. Jagga stutters since birth and therefore sings in situations. His father has been missing for a long time now. While people tell him that his father died in a car crash, he doesn’t believe them. And hence starts a whole chase sequence where bad guys are after him. He is accompanied by a journalist named Shruti,  played by Katrina.
Will Jagga be able to  find his Father ? Is he alive or dead ? Jagga Jasoos is all about this quest of Jagga filled with Joyous Music, Stupendous Cinematography and Picturesque fresh look of film. But these questions will be answered only in theaters near you.

With his outstanding performance, Ranbir proves why he is the Next Quintessential Superstar. From the inception to the climax he doesn’t leaves or looses his mark in character. It is a compilation of many stories that build up to make Ranbir’s character the new feluda on the block.Katrina on the other hand looks beautiful and has done good job as Shruti. Saurabh Shukla, again actor par excellence. He has lived his character to the fullest.
All other actors Saswat Chattergy in the role of Ranbir’s Father , Sayani , Denzil, everyone (though they had less to do) has done their roles with sheer responsibility.

The one thing I feel a tad disappointed at , is film’s length. I think the details in first half could have been avoided while the pre climax part is bit too streched. And that’s where editing lacks. People are smart now a days about movies and they do understand smart screenplays. Anurag has tried to give so much detail in first half as if he is making film for dumb audiences. Neverthless, thanks to Pritam’s Music which doesn’t let you down and keeps you in film.Especially 2 songs- Galti se Mistake & Ullu ka Pattha. Overall Anurag’ direction is Good.
There are some positive things about films and so the negatives too. I won’t go in much technical detail as I know no one reads them. But lest have a brief look Some positives and negatives.

Positives : Performances, Music, Background Score, Cinematography, and Picturesque look.

Negatives : Length of the film , Editing, Screenplay is slow and filled with some unnecessary actions., Most of the Dialogues are said through songs. Its a risky work. Some people may not find favour in it.

Story / Screenplay : 2/5
Editing : 2/5
Music : 3/5
Performances : 4/5
Direction : 3/5

On the Whole Jagga Jasoos is a Class appealing film. I must add – It will be loved by Children rather than Adults. Single screen audience may not like the film at all and even may feel headache at some places. But if you are Ranbir Kapoor’s Fan and love visually beautiful films then you will like it because Ranbir and the Cinematography are lifeline here. At least give it a try for Ranbir’s performance.
I am going with 3 stars out of 5 for Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos.
